Thints Things

Welcome to the part of this 6-week long project where I talk about some of my favourite things in life such as hobbies, and some interesting memories that will now be explicitly shared with whoever is reading this line to the full stop that marks the end of this line. Over my life, I've had a chance to experience many different adventures and have had my fair share of redundant but ultimately fun skills to learn. If I were to give the title of this page any other cheesy name I can think of, the best and closest thing to what I have in mind would be "Thint's Toybox". Enjoy the toys.

Music

One of my favourite things in existence on the face of the earth would be music. It has become of my deepest interests to listen to music and create mixtapes as part of my hobbies. Personally, I would say that I am more of a instrumental person, and that links to my favourite genres being mostly forms of electronic music; progressive house, bass house, drumstep, dubstep, tropical house and deep house. Ever since I started listening to electronic music, I've coincidentally felt a lot more passionate and loving towards life in general. The songs that I've come to listen to and mix all have a certain memory linked to them, and every moment I hear them, it has the ethereal capacity to flash images of my past in my head. The music that I listen to have also given me the oppurtunity to make new friends and share my favourite sounds with. Here's some of my personal favourite tracks to listen/mix (there's actually way too many for me to say so I'm just going to put my top 50 selections):

Cards

Yeah cards. An ordinary deck of cards. 52 pieces of paper. Well, 54 if you count the jokers or 56 in the case of 1001 Aladdin decks. Since I was 13, playing cards have been an unconscious but rewarding interest that have stuck with me for the past 4 years. Allow me to be more specific; when I was 13, my life was still pretty lacklustre to say the least. It was dull and unoriginal. I have never felt a sense of identity and have had no reason to feel proud about anything that I've done previously. I was, ironic to my juvenile extroverted nature, introverted. Looking back at it now, I realized that I was a very clumsy person when it came to social interactions; if there were any conversational minefields, I would unknowingly trigger all of them and still have a cheeky smile across my face thinking I'm possibly the best speaker in the world; if there were people that were beginning to feel annoyed at my actions, I wouldn't even have known it. I was a mess. Then, in the third quarter of the year, I had the chance to see one of my classmates (who I will refer to as AW, his initials) performing magic using playing cards to another group of classmates. It was quite literally, magical. No no I'm not talking about the tricks he performed, that's just shallow thinking. I'm talking about the reactions he managed to draw out of performing the little subpar tricks of his. Everyone was fascinated; everyone was having fun just laughing, talking and socializing whilst the magic had simply amplified the conversations. It was at that exact moment that my presence became clear to myself, and I finally began to understand myself. I never spoke to AW since that day, but I started practicing magic using cards and performing in front of a mirror for the next two years (no exaggeration remember I was a introvert there was no possible way I could even approach a person to look at whatever I was doing). After some time, I finally made it a point to perhaps approach some of my friends and try out some of the things that I had learnt, and the rest was history. Truth be told, I owe it to magic and cardistry for not being only the hobby that I can take with me around the world and through my life, but also one that has changed my life in ways we can only come to imagine. Also, you can click on the fanboy Thint on the left of this text to explore the Fontaine cards website, which I personally am a huge fan of.

Español

If it wasn't evident enough, one may come to realize that I'm a major fan of the Spanish language, and it has been one of my favourite cultures to embrace through songs and even food! One of the most prominent things in my bucket list may as well be the chance to travel to Spain one day and actually bask myself in the Spaniard sun while finishing the last bites of my paella on the balcony of a bayside penthouse. Yeah it's kind of a weird fantasy, but everyone has their own fantasies don't they? The Spanish language is one I intend to pick up, and so far, it has been a fun experience picking up a little lingo here and there.

Psychoanalysis

Psychoanalysis. That's "Psycho" and "Analysis" combined together to form a word. Quoting from the free-content web encyclopedia known as Wikipedia, "Psychoanalysis is a set of theories and therapeutic techniques related to the study of the unconscious mind, which together form a method of treatment for mental-health disorders." One of my keenest and most intimate disciplines that I've chosen to partake in is the study of behaviour and thought analysis. Since young, I've always been one to make generally ridiculous but profoundly accurate assumptions about a person's response to certain words or thoughts. One of my ambitions, aside from owning and managing a bespoke 20th century bar or being a famed author of a fair number of murder novels or living in a two-storey penthouse on the 29th floor of a luxury condominium complex (blah so on so forth you get the idea), is to be a psychotherapist or an applied behavior analyst. There is a sense of pride and accomplishment that can be found in helping others help themselves, and it can be a fairly immense and enlightening experience to speak openly with other people for mutual benefit. Although my course of study is currently unrelated to the academic displine that I am interested in, I still make it a point to take up a number of online courses to aid in my knowledge of the complex but symbolic mind, and be completely open to change if given the oppurtunity. It is boldly possible to say that conversation can be one of the strongest forms of therapy for anyone, and as such, I find myself to be a person who chooses his words carefully to achieve the greatest possible effect on the opposing parties.
